Checklist for submission

Checklist for Submission

If you are required to send samples please make sure you have done this before submitting your final manuscript.

Your manuscript needs to be complete and final when you submit it. We cannot accept manuscript if there are sections missing, or if everything has not been supplied correctly.

Checklist file

See Checklist.

Summary of artwork instructions

Refer to your contract

This should detail the number and type of illustrations allowed in your book. If not, please consult your Press editor before finalising the illustrations.
The final version of each illustration must be sent to us with your finished typescript.

Permissions

See Permissions.

We need to see a copy of the permission statement for each figure that has been previously published. Approach the original publisher first; they will tell you if you need to approach the author.

Electronic files

See Electronic illustrations.

  • If you are supplying electronic figures, please send us a test disk before you submit the final typescript. This will help us to identify and iron out any difficulties at an early stage.
  • Format: We will be able to use most common formats (eps, tif, bmp), but please remember that we may not be able to correct your figures (especially eps files). Please discuss the level of necessary correction with your editor at an early stage.
  • Resolution: Colour and halftone (black and white) images must be saved at 300dpi at approximately the final size. If you are unsure of the final size, please save at a higher resolution to allow for resizing. Line drawings should be saved at 1200dpi.
  • Colour figures should be saved as CMYK, not RGB. In some applications you will need to specify CMYK even for black and white images.
  • Unless you are using TeX or LaTeX, please do not embed your figures in the text. Please supply all figures as separate files.
  • Do not include legends in the figures. These should be incorporated in the figure caption, and all captions provided as a separate list.

Complete the illustration checklist and submit it with the finalised typescript for production.
