Contributory Volumes

Guidelines for editors

As the editor of the volume you are responsible for ensuring the manuscript is submitted correctly. You will need to decide how long each contribution should be, and how many figures each contribution should contain, so the book keeps within the limits set out in your contract. You must ensure that

  • all chapters are submitted to you both as a hardcopy printout (single-sided and double spaced) and as electronic files
  • the chapters are consistent in terms of style and layout
  • any necessary permissions are obtained
  • all electronic files, especially figures, are submitted in a suitable format

If there are any changes to the contributors you must make your Press Editor aware so we can send out any new or replacement contracts if necessary.

You must supply

  • a hardcopy printout (single-sided and double spaced) and as electronic files
  • all necessary permissions
  • a list, in alphabetical order, of all contributors and their contact details

Guidelines for contributors

As a contributor it is important that you keep in regular contact with the volume editor, and follow any instructions they give you. You must

  • ensure that the style and layout within your chapter is consistent and in keeping with any guidelines provided to you by the volume editor
  • obtain any necessary permissions

Be aware that your contribution is part of a larger piece of work and bear that in mind when writing.

You must supply the volume editor with

  • your chapter as a hardcopy printout (single-sided and double spaced) and as electronic files
  • a list of suggested index terms
  • all necessary permissions
